Bennie

Bennie is a Gotland sheep. Gotlands are one of the friendliest sheep breeds in the world! We have five of them on the farm now.

Bennie was a fine four-legged sheep until a freak vaccination accident. During his annual checkup, one of the shots hit a nerve and caused his lower leg and foot to go lame. The choice was to have him put down or have his leg removed.

We did some research and found out that a sheep can do very well with three legs! Our vet recommended we reach out to New Bolton Center, part of the University of Pennsylvania veterinary program, to have the procedure done.

Bennie is now happily hobbling and occasionally “running” with his farm mates through the field.
